AWBS President

WELCOME TO AWBS!

To my fellow AWBS members, I welcome each of you, whether new or returning, to our 29th club year! This year, we will continue to build on the established traditions of what AWBS has fostered over all these years, while creating new and exciting initiatives to serve our diverse and ever-changing membership interests. AWBS activities and social events reflect our expatriate and international community by offering opportunities for members to volunteer with our charities, attend educational lectures, explore England's culture, foster individuals' hobbies, and travel internationally.

AWBS offers so much for individuals living in England who want to take advantage and appreciate the beautiful country we collectively call home. Our club also creates an environment that allows for members to build life-long friendships wherever our lives take us.

For members who might be new to living in England, AWBS offers resources to help make your transition to the UK a smoother one. We offer Welcome Buddies and social events to provide a relaxing and fun way to meet new friends who understand what it is like to be away from our home countries. This publication also holds a wealth of knowledge and helpful hints.

I encourage you to attend and participate in our monthly meetings held at Chertsey Hall where you can visit with your new and old friends while attending a discussion with our exciting guest speaker. We also hold special social functions several times a year that have been some of my most memorable moments here in the UK. You don't want to miss out! Additionally, you can participate in events like our annual Holiday Craft Fayre, our largest fun raiser for our charities. It is also one of the anticipated shopping events of the area!

Most of all, I want to wish everyone another fantastic year with AWBS. Our many enthusiastic volunteers make AWBS more than a social network; it is rewarding organization that, I promise, will leave you with friendships and memories that will leave an imprint on you long after you have left the United Kingdom.

Enjoy and THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

Norma Ascroft
2010-2011 President, AWBS
