AWBS has a long history of  giving to local charities.Between 2004/2005 and 2011/2012, AWBS has disbursed some £101,201 in funds to local and international causes.

Our History of Giving

2010/2011

ABC (Assisting Berkshire Children) to read £1,026

to cover the costs of recruiting and training two new community volunteers during 2011-2012.

Christopher's Smile £2,000

to cover the costs of a specialized power pack used by the paediatric drug development team members, primarily by the post doctorate researcher at the Institute of Cancer Research to separate proteins for analysis and testing of new drugs.

The Family Contact Centre Camberley and District £2,110

to cover the program hall hire costs for 24 contact sessions for the period May 2011 to April 2012.

Mothers4Mothers £1,500

to cover the costs of play therapy equipment for the Creative Play Therapy: Sand Therapy, Music Therapy and Role Play Puppet Kits to be used by counsellors providing counselling services in local schools. (NB Final costings for specific items to be provided)

Sebastian's Action Trust £1,500

to cover the costs of reception furniture, desk and office chair for the main reception area at The Bluebells to create professional, yet warm and welcoming for the families booking in.

The Horse's Trust £250

to cover the costs of feeding a horse for one year, given AWBS members' support of this charity.

2009/2010

East Berkshire and South Bucks Women's Aid £2500

One-time grant to purchase ‘necessities of life' items (such as food, household goods, school uniforms) for refuge family members who have had to flee their homes, and to purchase household items for the refuge to make the families' stays as comfortable as possible.

Windsor Ascot Maidenhead District Sports Association for the Disabled (WAMSAD) £2500

One-time grant to contribute to their ‘Sports Budget'. The funds used to purchase special sports equipment for the disabled, and help fund special training courses and competition fees for their disabled athletes.

Sebastian's Action Trust £10,000

Grant to support the construction of the outdoor playground for the charity's new holiday home.

2008/2009

AGE Concern Spelthorne: £2000

One-time donation to fund the cost of transport for frail elderly to attend adult day program for seniors. Seniors are currently expected to pay for the service or use public transportation, both options currently significantly inhibit participation.

Quest £2300

One-time donation to fund the cost of "Jake" for one year. This donation provides Quest with the exclusive use of the horse for their Riding for the Disabled Program.
