December's General meeting was a very special event, with lots of happy members! Why, you may ask? Well the historic location: Windsor's Guildhall featured - where Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as Elton John and David Furnish, tied the knot. Another reason - our featured entertainment were none other than The Queen's Six - an all male acapella ensemble of the Queen's personal choral singers who all reside in special quarters inside the grounds of Windsor Castle with their families. This highly presigious group sing eight services a week at St. George's Chapel, with several services a year for the Queen, Herself. They were generous enough to give us a bit of history!
December is a joyous time of the year when we were able congratulate our members - and Michelle Olson in particular - for a successful Craft Fayre last Saturday at Royal Holloway. It is also a time of year when our mobile membership must say a few sad farewells to some Board members who must either move on or move away. These gracious ladies will not be forgotten, as they have left their stamp on us not only with their diligent, conscientious work and high level professionalism but with their generosity and friendship. Thank you, Catherine Boeckman, Michelle McGowan, Leigh Young and Shari Lewis for helping to make this yet another terrific AWBS board, and for setting up a model that will be easy for your successors to continue the great work you've done for AWBS.
Luckily, there were also hearty welcomes to be had for new Board members stepping in. Please welcome Suzanne Jewell, Secretary; Lynn Dalleske returns to us in the Co-VP of Special Events (GREAT Holiday Luncheon!), Tia McLaughlin as FAWCO and Jen Fraser taking on VP of Membership along with continuing to be VP of Nominations and Volunteers.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a Jolly Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
Kristi Thompson, AWBS President
